This is a tricky one as I am asked allot by staff if they can take their pets on assignment, we often think this is just my pet and they wouldn’t hurt anyone. If you are staying where accommodation is supplied and this is a new environment for a pet they can become anxious and lash out, They don’t often know that this is where they will be staying and after a long car trip they are not familiar with their surroundings.
Most services do not offer accommodation for pets but you are able to find pet friendly accommodation near where you are working, Some services look at pets on a case by case basis and others have a blanket ban of no pets in the accommodation, it is the services responsibility if something happens whilst you are in their accommodation and this is left to their discretion.
We have placed several nurses that have taken pets with them and chosen to rent a pet friendly house near where they will be working. some hospitals will subsidise this and others have chosen to use salary sacrifice to pay for the rental.
